Forum Hogs

Guys if you notice anyone becoming the dreaded "Forum Hog" don't hesitate to remind them to let others post and flesh out topics for awhile-- and not derail top threads. (Cr6 may be occasionally guilty of this... cough).

Kind of brings up the question of keeping certain important threads "pinned".

Incidentally, the latest phrase for logic-shaming has become, "Hogg". Hogglecakes, Hoggy-pie, Hoggs-Boson, Hogglecaust, and Boss Hogg are a few variants. This effectively replaces the phrase, "libtard" in political dialogue.

(meant for laughs, my friends!)

Interesting.... there is actually a syndrome that requires surgery...God Help us All (GHUA) as I pick up my AK-47:

Birt-Hogg-Dube Syndrome Treatment & Management

Medical Care

No specific medical treatment exists for the cutaneous lesions of Birt-Hogg-Dubé syndrome (BHDS). Topical rapamycin failed to demonstrate cosmetic improvement of fibrofolliculomas in Birt-Hogg-Dubé syndrome patients. [69]

Surgical Care

Surgical removal has provided definitive treatment of solitary perifollicular fibromas.  Embarassed

Electrodesiccation may be helpful for the removal of multiple lesions; however, lesions can recur. [70] Dermabrasion has been suggested as a treatment option. Lesions may recur. Several cases of Birt-Hogg-Dubé syndrome cutaneous lesions treated successfully with carbon dioxide and Er:YAG laser skin resurfacing have been reported. [71, 72]

Also don't forget the really noteworthy "Hoggs" out there. America is full of respectability "at times":

Basu's theorem: Special cases

Hogg independently discovered a special case of "Basu's theorem", a few years before the publication by Deb Basu.[5][6][7] Hogg's second paper on the topic of Basu's theorem was never published, because of a negative report by an anonymous referee in 1953.[8] Later, Basu refers "to Hogg and Craig (1956) for several interesting uses [of Basu's theorem] in proving results in distribution theory".[9]

For his research in nonparametric statistics, Hogg received the Gottfried Noether Senior Scholar Award in 2001.

Hogg has been recognized internationally as a leading researcher in statistics and as an exemplary professor of statistics who has served as a public spokesperson for the profession. Hogg has had a particularly visible role in the United States, where he was elected as President of the American Statistical Association (ASA), serving in 1988. One of the ASA President's tasks is to arrange an annual meeting, and Hogg's diligence was rewarded by the ASA staff, who presented him with the name tag, "Boss Hogg" (after the name of a character in the television series The Dukes of Hazzard). king [18] Three years after Hogg had served as President, he was awarded the ASA’s Founder’s Award in 1991.[19]
