Weekly Discussion Proposal
Would any of you like to have a weekly discussion here or somewhere all at the same time, in order to answer each other promptly and stimulate thinking etc?

Sounds good to me. Any day of the week would do. Peferably on the weekends.

Would Saturday at 6pm Pacific Time be okay? That would be 9pm Eastern Time etc.

Re: Weekly Discussion Proposal
I think a discussion is a good idea but doesn't really fit me personally. That's because I like to take my time answering and describing things. Some of my posts I might spend a day writing as I go over it and make sure it is saying what I want it to say (or as close as I can get).
6pm on a Saturday would be 1pm Sunday for me so I might be able to make some discussions. I'll add it to my calendar and play it week by week.
Even if I can't make it, I am happy to see the results of the discussions and chime in when I think it appropriate.

Saturday at 9pm EST would be fine. I'm kind of like Nevyn, I like to think over topics and do some research before really putting my ideas out there.
I think anything related to Mathis and SuperConductors is a good place to start. I think he may allow an end run for near room temp superconductors.

Re: Weekly Discussion Proposal
Moving. Okay, I'll try to be here then. It's a little iffy, because I'm moving out on Sunday and I need to do a little packing and prep. But I hope to have an hour or so to discuss on here.
Collaboration Experiments. Since we're all admins, we can all edit the same message, and I'd like to try that at least briefly, because it might work almost as well as a Google Doc, although I expect there'd be some problems, like inadvertently deleting each other's text as we submit our own. I think it's important to improve online collaboration, but I don't know if you guys will want to experiment with me on that much. Anyone interested?
What should work better is if each of us uses a single message box during discussion. That way we wouldn't have a long series of small messages. We'd have just 3 or 4 boxes with a lot of text in each one.
We should probably each put our initials at the front of each sentence or paragraph. And when we answer each other, we should copy what we're replying to and put our reply after it. That may turn out not to be efficient, but there are likely a number of procedures that could be tried.
I think being able to manipulate graphics more easily would be very helpful. Google Docs has a template that works similar to Docs, where 2 or more people can draw images and make text at the same time and can then move the image or text to different locations. I haven't gotten to try it with another person as yet.

Re: Weekly Discussion Proposal
I'm okay with a single-edited box. I'm not a fan of Google since they do deep machine-learning tracking-data mining on all submissions. I don't like to be their "product".
Re: Weekly Discussion Proposal
Would it be safer to just have the discussion as normal, with our own posts, and then someone collate them at the end into 1 organised post which could be posted to a special thread just for the discussions? I don't like the idea of losing peoples input.
Re: Weekly Discussion Proposal
Looks like Cr6 and Nevyn found the Discussion thread.
